Maggie Hickman, Cinematographer, Photographer and Director
At the heart of JWH is its managing member, Maggie Hickman. Having worked with JWH since its creation in 2012. Maggie is a 2021 Emmy-nominated producer. Her project, "In the Cold, Dark Night" is a well-crafted documentary about a race-based cold case murder in rural Georgia in the early 1980s. Maggie is serving as director and writter on the documentry Murder of a Trailblazerer.
Alberta O. Jones was murdered on the early summer morning of August 5th, 1965. Her beaten body was found facedown washed up on the banks of the Ohio River by a group of white teenage boys. At 10:35 AM August 5th, the world would never know what Ms. Jones could have done to shape history. This pioneering young African-American women's courageous life was cut short. Alberta Jones defined history. She pathed a way for women of color not only in Louisville but in the country. Her tenacity for fighting for basic human rights came at a price, her life.
Jonathan Hickman, Director, Editor, Cinematographer, Writer & Journalist
The other half of JWH is Jonathan W. Hickman, an attorney, novelist, and filmmaker. As an attorney, Jonathan has handled the production and distribution legal needs for many feature films. As a filmmaker, Jonathan has served as editor, director, and director of photography on narrative and documentary feature projects, including the popular award-winning feature THREE DAYS AT FOSTER. As a college professor, Jonathan teaches media law and media production finance at the University of North Georgia. His first novel, THE TASTER, is available in bookstores and online.
